The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has declared that Nigeria requires spiritual solutions to problems bedevilling the country.

Akanbi, who spoke on Sunday, advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors and other public officeholders to return to God.

He explained that public officeholders in the country needed only God during this trying period.

The monarch made these declarations during a reception organised in his honour in Iwo, Osun State, by the Alu-Sunnah Islamic organisation on his return from Saudi Arabia.

While addressing the gathering, he said that he never doubted the good intention of President Tinubu to fix Nigeria, and expressed conviction that the nation’s future would change for the better if all political leaders at the national, state and local levels sought the face of God.

“Today, there is no country in the world where there are no economic challenges except in Saudi Arabia. This is so because they place all their affairs in God’s hands and trust in God.

“The President should also do the same. Even the governors, senators, all political leaders, everybody must resign to God,” he said.

The Executive Secretary of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, commended the traditional ruler for his exemplary role as a good ambassador of the religion of Islam within the traditional institution and outside the shores of Nigeria, especially during his pilgrimage to Mecca.

Yahya said: “The entire Ummah here is uniting behind Oluwo, a traditional ruler who believes in the tenets of Islam and the oneness of God. I call on all Ummah to unite together and live together in peace, even with the people of other religions but we must not be cowards to do what Allah has commanded us.”
