The National Rubber Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria has announced a World Rubber Summit that promises to transform Nigeria’s rubber industry.

NARPPMAN announced this in a statement on Wednesday, stating that the event would be held in Abuja between July and August, and would enlighten operators in the sector on the latest happenings in the industry.

The South-West Coordinator of NARPPMAN, Oluwatosin Jeremiah, said the World Rubber Summit themed ‘Restoring Growth: A New Reality of Trade, Investment, and Innovation in the Rubber Industry,’ will gather local and international experts to discuss the entire rubber value chain.

Jeremiah said the event would highlight investment opportunities for both international and local investors. He called on the state governors in the South-West to take advantage of the opportunity to rejuvenate the rubber industry.

The NARPPMAN official explained that some Nigerian states were already adopting the latest advancements and opportunities in the sub-sector as he announced that President Bola Tinubu is expected to officially open the summit.

“Indeed, the summit is aimed at showcasing the potential of rubber as a cash crop capable of generating revenue, creating jobs, and promoting wealth creation in the region,” Jeremiah said.

The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, urged rubber-producing states in Nigeria to seize the opportunity to revitalise the industry.
