Nigeria to partner Morocco in Arts, Culture and Creative Economy – CBAAC DG

The Director-General of Center for Black Arts and African Culture, Mrs. Aisha Augie, and some members of her team recently were on a working visit to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Abuja.

They were there to explore and enhance collaborative opportunities especially in the area of Arts, Culture and other areas of mutual interests.

They were received by Mr. Mohammed Amane Tiyal, the Deputy Head of Mission, who introduced the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nigeria, Ambassador Moha Ou Ali Tagma. The visit aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Morocco, particularly in the Creative Economy Sector.

Ambassador Tagma expressed delight at the D.G’s visit, while emphasizing the historical ties between Nigeria and Morocco, notably referencing Morocco’s participation in Festac 77 with 72 delegates. He assured the D.G of the Kingdom of Morocco’s willingness to collaborate with CBAAC on projects of interests in Black and African Cultural Heritage. He further stated that ‘having a relationship with the Government is not enough, it has to be people to people based, and culture is a right vehicle that can be deployed to achieve that and also deepen understanding between people from different cultural backgrounds’.

The D.G and Ambassador engaged in fruitful discussions on the commonalities in Arts, Culture and explored avenues for potential collaborations between the two Nations in areas including: Cultural Festivals and Showcases, Arts Exhibitions, Educational Programmes among others. They exchanged ideas on leveraging cultural heritage to promote tourism, and enhance people-to-people alliances.

After a productive session of deliberations, the meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the future of Nigeria-Morocco relations and the potentials for meaningful partnerships in the Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy sectors.
