A three-day burial plan for the designer of the Nigerian national flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, will commence on Wednesday, September 4 and end, on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

A statement by his son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, on behalf of the family, on Monday in Ibadan, requested that the nation flag be flown at half mast in honour of the deceased during the burial.

Akinkunmi appreciated the Federal Government for its concern, especially the condolence visit of a delegation led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed.

He said the family was still hoping to receive support as promised by the Federal Government.

The statement read, “We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, to pay condolence to the family when the incident happened.

“We are still hopeful of hearing from the government as regards its promises in respect of the burial plan.

“While the family is waiting for the government to fulfil its promises, it appreciates the roles played by members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Bolaji Ayorinde, and members of the council for standing by the family.”
