The PUNCH: The management of a Chinese firm, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Company Limited, has said its top officials were unlawfully detained and brutalised by the police during its contractual disagreement with the Ogun State Government. The firm said the maltreatment compelled it to seek the seizure of Nigerian assets overseas.


Vanguard: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo last Friday stirred fresh controversy concerning the outrageous take-home pay of our federal lawmakers when he chided them for fixing their own salaries and allowances which he described as immoral. President Obasanjo made the accusation while receiving six members of the House of Representatives who are co-sponsors of bills on single term / rotational presidency led by Ugochinyere Ikenga representing Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo state.


ThisDay: Following the aftermath of the #EndBadGovernance protests that rocked the country in the first week of August, the federal government is now accelerating its efforts to ensure that policy changes have a positive and meaningful impact on the people’s welfare.


The Nation: The National Judicial Council (NJC) has resolved to investigate allegations of misconduct against 27 judges across the country. The council has accordingly set up four committees to conduct the investigation. This is one of the highlights of the decisions taken by the NJC at its meeting held in Abuja between August 14 and 15.
