Naija News looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Sunday 11th August 2024.

The PUNCH: The one million-man march planned by leaders of the #EndBadGovernance protest flopped on Saturday across the country due to low turnout. In different parts of Nigeria, protesters shunned their usual meeting points, which had been occupied by security agents. Organisers of the protest had said the march would signal the end of the 10-day protest against economic hardship.

Vanguard: There seems to be confusion over the 740 truckloads of rice the Federal Government promised to deliver to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) at the rate of 20 truckloads each last month (July) to alleviate the hunger in the land.

ThisDay: The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, yesterday said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other sister agencies are duty-bound to defend democracy in the country. Abubakar, who noted that Nigeria’s democratic institutions, values, and principles were the foundation upon which the nation was built, stressed that it is the constitutional responsibility of the NAF and sister services to protect and strengthen these values and principles.

The Nation: It was relatively calm across the country yesterday despite spirited attempts by organisers of #EndBadGovernance to rally the citizens for another round of protests over the current cost of living. The organisers had launched a campaign on social media for what they termed a million-man march to round off the protests which commenced on August 1.

Thank you for reading, that is all for today, see you again tomorrow for a review of Nigerian newspapers.
