The PUNCH: The Department of State Services has granted administrative bail to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero. He was released a few minutes before the 12midnight ultimatum issued by the organised labour. Pro-democracy activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, announced his release in a tweet on Monday night.
ThisDay: President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajero, who was arrested in the early hours of yesterday by the Department of State Service (DSS), was released late last night on bail. Although a litany of condemnations had trailed the labour leader’s arrest over yet-to-be disclosed offences as well as the invasion of the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project (SERAP), allegedly by the DSS, Ajaero was released at exactly 11:05 last night, according to an Assistant Secretary of the NLC, Mr. Chris Onyeka, who confirmed the development to THISDAY in a telephone conversation.
The Nation: Should the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) have his way, those found guilty of corruption would not be entitled to state pardon. Fagbemi made the recommendation yesterday in Abuja at a roundtable organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for state Attorneys General.
