The PUNCH: The Federal Government and state governors may have agreed to a three-month moratorium on Local Government autonomy, over concerns arising from its impact on salary payments and operational viability, The PUNCH learnt on Monday. The development means Local Governments may wait till October before the implementation of the law in the direct payment into their respective accounts.


Vanguard: Over 50 firms in the chemical and non-metallic products sub-sector of the nation’s economy are in a dilemma as multinationals, medium and small-scale enterprises, SMEs, and member companies are either exiting, on the verge of shutting down or operating at low-capacity utilisation.


ThisDay: President Bola Tinubu yesterday, inaugurated 30 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered buses at the State House, Abuja, aimed to ease the burden of transportation on the citizens brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy. This was as the Chairman of Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), Winifred Akpani, described the formal unveiling of the buses as a game changer for the transport sector.


Daily Trust: Floods have wreaked havoc in several communities in Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi and Kebbi states, submerging many houses and farmlands. The incidents have also left many people displaced, even as major highways have been damaged, making mobility extremely difficult in some of the affected areas.
