The PUNCH: Nigeria’s security agencies are investigating at least four politicians from the country’s northern part over the use of Russian flags by #EndBadGovernance protesters. Multiple sources told The PUNCH that the political bigwigs, who hail from Katsina, Kaduna and Kano states, were principal actors who instigated the use of Russian flags among demonstrators in the north to fan the embers for an unconstitutional regime change.

ThisDay: The Armed Forces of Nigeria, yesterday, described those, allegedly, calling for regime change under the guise of #EndBadGovernance protest as representing less than one per cent of the country’s population. They expressed their resolve to resist such attempt. Speaking at a joint press conference of the service chiefs and other heads of security agencies at Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, vowed that the military will defend the country’s democracy with the last drop of their blood.

The Nation: Normalcy returned to more states yesterday as the protests against the rising cost of living dissipated. With protesters in Akwa Ibom, Osun and Edo states backing down, virtually all 17 states in the South, except Rivers, have abandoned the protest. Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), also had a breather yesterday. Life returned to normal in most parts.

Daily Trust: Four teenagers and a would-be bride were said to have been killed by security agents during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano and Zaria. One Isma’il Muhammad, 18, was also gunned down yesterday by a soldier in Samaru, Zaria, in Kaduna State.
