The founder of Nigerian Liberty Movements (NLM), Dr. ThisDays Moses Olusoji Adebisi has condemned Nigeria’s leaders for the untold hardship meted on the citizenry in the past nine years, saying Nigerians do not deserve the mismanagement of their commonwealth.
Speaking on the subject matter ‘Enough is Enough, Liberty for Nigerians on BBC Live interview recently, Adebisi called on the government to quit pretense and address the myriad issues confronting Nigerians on a daily basis.
He said: “If we continue to keep quiet in the face of adversities it means that our strength is little. Nigeria is currently facing the most critical challenge of untold hardship, seemingly uncushionable crisis and unprecedented weakness of leadership in the history of our national existence. Hence the reasons for the public gatherings and outcries of revolts through protests.”
Asked if Nigerians have endured the hardship enough, Adebisi answered in the affirmative, adding: “It is their fundamental right to demand for good governance and the government has no reason but to give them that.
“Is this government currently doing anything that can obviously turn the situation of an average Nigerian around?” He, however, said that protest may not be the appropriate route to go because history has proven over and again that protests do not yield positive outcomes in Nigeria.
“Is the protest ever going to yield a positive result in our current Nigeria, obviously no. But understanding the difference between agitation and activism would help Nigerians to make informed decisions and do justice to the current uproar in the country,” he noted.
According to him, “agitation is when some groups of aggrieved individuals decide to make demands of their pain points without deliberation and dialogue, such as ‘The Oduduwa Separatist’, ‘The Biafra Secessionists’ and many more globally. This has always disturbed the peace of the society and would always be.”
On the other hand, he said “activism must be propagated through a structural plan of demand and dialogue-based gatherings of people linked to the social space of intelligence. Therefore, a successful protest must emanate through a system that is created to thrive and well developed with every modality to outperform the existing systems of manipulations, mediocrity and corruption by addressing the real problems of the people by proffering holistic solutions to it.”
He, therefore, called on Nigerians to shun protests but prepare for the 2027 general election, and use the platform to elect people of integrity into government.
“We are set to emerge the new breed of leadership in Nigeria, through Nigerian Liberty Movements. So, if you do not want your prayers to continue as an ordinary wish, and you do not want your efforts of demanding for good governance to be in futility, join NLM.
“NLM is calling on everyone that feels the need to solve Nigeria’s problem to jump on the ship and let rescue our dear nation,” he said.
