Nigeria National League outfit Barau FC on Monday unveiled former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf as their new coach ahead of the incoming season.
Yusuf is said to have penned a one-year contract with the club owned by Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau.
The 62-year-old has been tasked with the responsibility of guiding the club to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
The former international is one of the most experienced coaches in the domestic scene in Nigeria having previously worked with Nasarawa United, Kano Pillars, Enyimba and El-Kanemi Warriors.
He was in charge of the home-based Super Eagles that reached the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
His last role at club level was when he was temporarily contracted by Rivers United as an Advisor to help the technical crew.
Barau FC had announced a 30-man list squad for the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament 2024 in Jos, which will be Salisu’s first assignment.
