Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Hashimu Dungurawa, issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, cautioning him to brace for overwhelming electoral defeat in 2027 if his administration continues with what he described as anti-people policies.
“With your unfriendly anti-masses policies and your stance on them, just prepare for defeat in the next general elections. You either change them, or we Nigerians will collectively change you,” Dungurawa declared during a press briefing in Kano.
Dungurawa expressed confidence that the NNPP is poised to secure victory across all 36 states, including the presidential seat in the 2027 elections.
He asserted that Nigerians are rallying behind the party and eagerly awaiting the next general elections.
Reflecting on Tinubu’s policy trajectory, Dungurawa remarked, “From the podium on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu started reeling out anti-masses policies as if Nigerians had stepped on his toes. He kept slamming such unfriendly policies on us up till today.
“Therefore, with these challenges and many more deliberately created by the APC-led government, it is just a matter of time. We will certainly ensure that Tinubu is out in 2027 and Kwankwaso, a true democrat, steps in.”
Dungurawa highlighted NNPP’s growing influence, pointing to the establishment of offices and party structures across states and local governments nationwide.
He described this expansion as a testament to the party’s readiness to claim both state and federal positions in 2027.
“The NNPP recorded tremendous successes in 2024 and is on course to achieve more in 2025,” he noted.
Praising Kano State’s progress under NNPP leadership, Dungurawa said, “You are all living witnesses that we are lucky to have a God-fearing governor who has restructured Kano State in terms of infrastructure, empowerment, and human development.
“Kano can now compete favourably with any modern city globally, especially with the state-of-the-art facilities made available in the metropolitan and rural areas.”
Dungurawa raised concerns about alleged Federal Government plans to impose a one-party system, describing it as the biggest challenge facing the NNPP.
He urged the administration to prioritise human-friendly policies to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
Addressing rumours of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s defection to the All Progressives Congress, Dungurawa dismissed the claims as baseless.
“It is a mere allegation to tarnish his reputation and towering popularity,” he asserted.
