No more conflicts – Shehu Sani on creation of Livestock Development Ministry

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani on Tuesday said livestock will no longer be a source of acrimony and conflict in Nigeria.

Sani made the remark while describing the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development as a good idea.

He said livestock can now be factored into Nigeria’s economic growth.

Posting on X, he wrote: “Federal Ministry of Livestock Development is a good idea. Livestock can now factor into the economic growth of the country instead of being a source of acrimony and territorial conflict.”

President Bola Tinubu has announced the creation of a Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.

Tinubu made the announcement while inaugurating the Presidential Committee on Livestock Reforms at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

While Tinubu will head the Presidential Committee, the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, EFCC, Attahiru Jega, will be his deputy.

The Committee is expected to propose recommendations aimed at fostering a peaceful co-existence between herders and farmers while ensuring the security and economic well-being of all Nigerians.

Present at the Inauguration were the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila amongst cabinet members.

No minister has been appointed for the ministry as the president is expected to transmit the person’s name to the National Assembly for confirmation.
