The Benue Progressives Patriot (BPP), a group led by former Speaker Pro Tempore of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon Terngu Tsegba, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not hold local government congresses in Benue State.

Naija News reports that Tsegba made this announcement during a World Press Conference in Makurdi on Sunday.

In a statement delivered on behalf of the group, Tsegba condemned the irregularities observed during the ward congresses, which they claimed were manipulated by associates of former Governor Samuel Ortom.

According to the group, these congresses were conducted in private homes with fabricated results, which they insisted were unacceptable.

Tsegba expressed that his remarks reflected the frustrations of aggrieved party members across the state.

He called on the PDP’s National Secretariat to annul the flawed ward congresses and to validate the authentic results approved by the local populace before moving forward with any local government congresses.

Tsegba said, “Let it be known to the NWC, NEC, the BOT, and indeed to the entire world that the local government congresses of the PDP did not take place anywhere in Benue State. No one should fabricate any results for any state congresses in Benue and present them anywhere.

“We call on the NWC of our great party to discard the manufactured ward congress results they currently hold, and to collect and use the authentic results that are still at the Benue State PDP Secretariat before considering moving on to the local government congresses.

“We also request that the NWC immediately reschedule and conduct congresses in the local governments where they did not occur.

“We remain loyal and law-abiding members of the PDP and are committed to reclaiming the party from those bad elements among us who are bent on destroying it.

Despite provocations, the BPP emphasized their dedication to the party’s principles.

Other prominent members of the BPP, including Paul Ubwa, David Tsevende, Hon. Fanen Mondo, Aluashima Abari, and Dr. Jack Mulya, joined Tsegba in condemning the actions of Samuel Ortom.

They argued that despite Ortom’s significant benefits from the party, his efforts should not be allowed to undermine the PDP.

The group also criticized the Appeal Panel led by Bode Ojo for failing to address grievances related to the ward congresses and called for disciplinary action against both the panel and the “bad elements” within the party.

The BPP members unanimously agreed that any list of candidates emerging from Senator Abba Moro and Samuel Ortom would be rejected unless the will of the people is respected at all levels.
