The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has boldly stated that he cannot be accused of corruption as a public official.

Naija News reports that the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) made this assertion during the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024 held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Uzodinma, during the event, urged public officeholders to operate within their legitimate means and to refrain from corrupt activities.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain attributed the rampant corruption in Nigeria to an excessive desire for wealth and a lack of self-discipline, among other factors.

In his lecture titled “Service Above Others: Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,” the Imo State Governor stressed the importance of political leaders following the example set by the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria to foster a more prosperous nation.

Additionally, he announced that the rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant is underway and is expected to be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2025.

Uzodinma characterized this project as crucial for providing 24-hour electricity across all regions of the state.

Notable attendees included the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu; the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Patricia Obila; former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan; as well as past and current lawmakers, among others.
