NPA Firemen Extinguish Fire From Apapa Port

The fire service department of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on Saturday extinguished a fire incident at APM Terminals, Apapa, Lagos.

General manager, Corporate and Strategic Communication, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, stated that the fire was professionally extinguished by the NPA firemen with the help of other sister agencies in the port.

According to the statement made available to LEADERSHIP, the fire erupted from one of the cranes belonging to APM Terminals.

He stated further that the fire was put off before any damage could be done to other facilities at the port.

However, Onyemekara while expressing his appreciation to the NPA firemen for their professionalism, said no life was lost in the incident; neither were any more facilities affected by the fire before it was contained.

He assured port users and other stakeholders that the current Management of NPA led by  managing director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, would continue to prioritise the safety of lives and properties in the Nigerian ports, even as it aim to enhance the ease of doing business in the ports.
