The 2024-2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season will kick-off with a game between the reigning champions, Enugu Rangers and the newly-promoted side, El-Kanemi Warriors, who are also the champions of the President Federation Cup.
The first game of the 2024-2025 NPFL campaign will take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday, August 31, in line with the conclusion of the league’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, July 16.
After the first game of the season, the fans of the league will wait until the following weekend before they can see the remaining fixtures on matchday one.
From September 7 and 8, the other nine games on matchday one will take place and the fixtures are as follows:
Remo Stars vs Abia Warriors
Lobi Stars vs Akwa United
Bendel Insurance vs Rivers United
Sunshine Stars vs Bayelsa United
Kano Pillars vs Ikorodu City
Beyond Limits vs Enyimba
Nasarawa United vs Shooting Stars
Kwara United vs Niger Tornadoes
Plateau United vs Katsina United
Note that no official kick-off time has been assigned to these fixtures but the games are expected to kick off at 4 p.m. on the first full weekend of September 2024.
The NPFL are yet to issue the full fixtures for the remaining matchdays in the 2024-2025 season which will run in the full-schedule format just like in the previous season.
Naija News has reported that the chairman of the league body, Gbenga Elegbeleye has announced that the winners of the forthcoming campaign will go home with 200 million naira instead of the 150 million Enugu Rangers won last season.
