Bendel Insurance Football Club skipper, Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi, is confident the team will bounce back from the 1-0 defeat at Remo Stars when they host Abia Warriors on Saturday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
While encouraging his teammates to put the Ikenne loss behind them, he laid emphasis on focusing on the home game against the Warriors.
Oritseweyinmi, who spoke to journalists on Tuesday, said the Remo match was in the past and that the important thing now is for the boys to have confidence and do all that is necessary to bounce back from the defeat and beat Warriors.
He expressed optimism over the team’s chances against Abia Warriors.
He said, “The loss at Remo was a painful one because we really gave our all in that game, but we still couldn’t get anything from it. Our matches with Remo Stars are always very tough.
“We enjoyed ourselves because we didn’t play under any pressure, and I am happy we are getting better with every game. I advise my teammates to let us put that disappointment behind us and focus on beating the Abia Warriors on Saturday.
“That’s the best way to forget about a painful defeat. There should be no hard feelings because we lost to a very good side, an organised team. I’m sure we will beat them next time. We know each other very well.”
Insurance are currently 14th on the NPFL log with 9 points, while Abia Warriors have 11 points and are in the 9th position.
The Benin Arsenal were the better of the two sides last season with a 1-0 win over the Warriors on match day 15 and a 0-0 draw in the match day 35 revised fixture in Umuahia.
