NPFL: Ladan Bosso Becomes Bayelsa United Head Coach

2 months ago 8

The former coach of the Nigeria under-20 team, Ladan Bosso, has been named as the technical adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Bayelsa United.

Ladan Bosso has been without a club since he stepped down as the head coach of the under-20 national team in 2023.

Recall that the 56-year-old Niger State-born tactician was the head coach of the under-20 team between 2020 and 2023. Under his leadership, the team won a Bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations youth tournament.

He, however, failed to go beyond the quarter-final stage at the 2023 Under-20 World Cup, which led to his resignation.

Before Bayelsa United unveiled Ladan Bosso as their technical adviser, there were reports that the Nigeria Football Federation had appointed him as the new coach of the under-23 national team.

But the coach debunked it, confirming that his new job is to lead Bayelsa United from the forthcoming 2024-2025 season.

The Yenagoa-based club had to hunt for a new head coach after struggling with relegation last season. They had to wait until the last matchday of the campaign before they could secure their place in the NPFL.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Bayelsa United issued a statement to announce that all the club’s retained players should report for pre-season from Thursday, July 18.

Like most clubs in the league, Bayelsa are aiming to start preparing for the new season early. Note that the new campaign is expected to start on August 31, 2024.
