Remo Stars captain, Junior Nduka, is keen on achieving more landmarks with the club after reaching 100 caps in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Nduka joined the exclusive list of centurions in the Nigerian topflight in their nervy 2-1 win over champions Rangers International in Ikenne.
The captain completed another 90 minutes in the encounter, making him one of the players not to have missed any minutes of action this season.
“So far, so good; the journey has been good, thanks to God and everyone who made it possible, especially the club and my teammates,” Nduka told PUNCH Sports Extra.
The club’s academy product said he hopes to make his longevity count at the club this season as they challenge for the NPFL title again.
“We are still working in progress; we are not there yet. It’s not a sprint but a marathon. We will keep striving and stay consistent so we can make it count this season.”
Nduka came through the ranks at Remo to make his NPFL debut in 2021, when they returned to the topflight.
The team was handled by Gbenga Ogunbote before Daniel Ogunmodede returned to take over the reins in the 2022/2023 season.
He made 37 appearances in his debut season and scored two goals, featuring in all their 18 matches during the abridged 2022/23 season as well as six Super 6 games.
Nduka, who received a car gift from the club owner, Kunle Soname, for his dedication to the club, missed only three games last season and has played all four matches in the NPFL this season, providing one assist.
The Sky Blue Stars have finished second for consecutive seasons in the NPFL and would hope to go one better this term as they lead with a perfect record after four matches.
