NPFL Transfer: Jonathan Alukwu Leaves Sporting, Chidebere Nwobodo Says Bye To Rangers

Jonathan Alukwu, the best player of the season winner at the relegated NPFL club, Sporting Lagos, has completed his exit from the side.

Jonathan Alukwu who spent just one season at Sporting Lagos before they were relegated at the end of the 2023-2024 season has joined the Austrian third division club, ASKO OEDT.

Initially, the 21-year-old forward who scored 12 goals and provided two assists for Sporting last season was expected to move to another top NPFL club following his club’s relegation. But he snubbed offers from domestic clubs as he chose to move abroad.

Naija News gathered that Jonathan Alukwu has been registered to commence action immediately at the lower division club in Austria.

Meanwhile, Chidebere Nwobodo who helped Enugu Rangers to win the NPFL title last season, has taken to his X page to wave goodbye to the club.

Nwobodo is expected to commence the 2024-2025 season as the player of APR FC of Rwandan. He has agreed to a three-year deal with the club.

In his farewell message, Nwobodo thanked the fans, his teammates and coaches at Enugu Rangers, noting that his four-year spell at the club was a life-changing one for him.

“Appreciate and gratitude are the two words that came to my mind on the day I have to say goodbye to everyone at Rangers,” Nwobodo wrote.

“Thankfully for the opportunity to have a part of this club and Rangers Community, the continued support I have received from day one has been incredible, Amazing and overwhelming.

“These past four years have been a time of learning for me and my family, some wins some defeats but without doubt a life-changing experience.

“To my teammates, coaches, staff and management, you were all part of it all and to the fans, I don’t have the words, you all have my deepest gratitude forever, All the best always Rangers.”
