Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Plateau United forward, Albert Hilary is poised to make a crucial return to the squad after recovering from a brief injury layoff.

Hilary sustained an injury during the team’s NPFL match against Ikorodu City in the fifth round of fixtures, prompting concerns over his availability for upcoming games.

Recent reports indicate that Hilary is set to undergo a late fitness assessment ahead of Plateau United’s next competitive fixture against Sunshine Stars. The match will take place at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.

Currently, Plateau United have had a mixed start to the season, accumulating three wins, two draws, and three defeats, which places them seventh on the league table with a total of 11 points.

In contrast, the Oluyole Warriors have struggled this season, with only two victories in their eight matches in the NPFL.

The Ibadan-based team finds itself in a precarious position, sitting 15th on the league table with just eight points. Despite this challenging situation, head coach Lawal remains optimistic about turning their fortunes around as the season progresses.

“We’re all aware of the significant issue we face with scoring goals, which has led to sleepless nights for the coaching staff and players alike. However, I assure our supporters that we are diligently working to rectify this,” Lawal said.

He added, “We need our supporters to stand by us and keep their faith. Their encouragement will be crucial as we work to improve our performance.”

Godwin Obaje Rejoins Rangers

Nigerian forward Godwin Obaje has rejoined the NPFL reigning champions, Rangers. Following a brief stint at Omani side Oman, where he made four league appearances and provided one assist, Obaje has officially linked up with the Flying Antelopes.

The 27-year-old striker has resumed training under head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and is expected to make a significant impact, given his impressive track record from the previous season.

Obaje was the top scorer for the Rangers last season, netting 12 goals that helped secure the 2023-24 NPFL title. His return is anticipated to enhance Rangers’ attacking options as they aim to defend their title race.

Kwara United Beg For Fans

Kwara United’s technical adviser, Tunde Sanni, has urged fans to exercise patience as the team navigates a difficult start to the current NPFL campaign.

With two wins, four draws, and two defeats to their name, the Harmony Boys have shown some resilience, remaining unbeaten in their last three league outings.

Ahead of the game, Sanni addressed the supporters, emphasizing the importance of their unwavering backing.

“We narrowly missed out on victory in our last match against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri,” Sanni told Kwara United’s media team.

He added, “With the right support from our fans, Kwara United will excel.”
