The chairman of Enyimba, Nwankwo Kanu, has expressed his confidence in Yemi Olanrewaju’s potential to make a significant impact at the club.

Recall that Olanrewaju’s appointment as the substantive head coach of Enyimba was officially announced on Tuesday, marking the beginning of his one-year contract with the two-time African champions.

While speaking to Enyimbafc.net, Kanu reflected on Olanrewaju’s invaluable contribution to the coaching staff and voiced support for his leadership.

“Coach Yemi has been an invaluable member of our coaching staff,” Kanu said.

“We believe he has the skills and expertise to take the team to the next level, and we look forward to seeing the team thrive under his leadership.”

Olanrewaju Acknowledges the big task

Yemi Olanrewaju has expressed his understanding of the immense pressure that comes with managing a top club like Enyimba.

As a former Golden Eaglets assistant coach and now the head coach of Enyimba, Olanrewaju acknowledged the high-pressure nature of the job, particularly given his third year at the club.

He reassured fans of his commitment to meet their expectations, stating, “As the head coach of Enyimba, I know the pressure and what it means to lead the team. This is not my first year but my third year at the club. I understand what the fans want. Coaching Enyimba is a high-pressure job.”

The club is currently in a rebuilding phase following the departure of seven players at the end of the previous season.

Bendel Insurance Lose Two Players

Junior Osaghae and Paul Obata have made a move from NPFL club, Bendel Insurance to Tanzanian club, Dodoma Jiji FC.

While the details of their transfer were not disclosed, their departures represent a significant change for Bendel Insurance ahead of the 2024/25 NPFL season, prompting the club to seek new additions to fill the void left by the departing players.

Benue To Host NPFL media summit

The Benue State government is set to host a two-day workshop in Makurdi this week for the media officers of NPFL clubs.

The workshop will focus on the significance of media in the growth and success of football as a global business, coinciding with the upcoming 2024-2025 NPFL season.

The season opener will feature reigning NPFL champions, Rangers, facing off against Federation Cup winner El-Kanemi Warriors on Saturday, August 31.
