Niger Tornadoes are eager to build on their recent victory in Week 10 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where they triumphed over Shooting Stars.

This win marked a significant milestone as it was the Ikon Allah Boys’ first NPFL win of the current season.

As part of their quest for improvement, the Niger Tornadoes are set to host Akwa United at the Bako Kontagora Stadium this coming Sunday.

In a statement shared on their X page, the club emphasized the importance of the match, saying, “This Sunday, we are up against Akwa United for the second game of our home double-header as we look to consolidate on our victory against 3SC last weekend.”

The Tornadoes have shown resilience lately, remaining unbeaten in their last two games, and they currently sit in seventh place on the NPFL table with a total of 14 points.

Abia Warriors Deny Violating Transfer Rules

Abia Warriors have denied any allegations regarding the violation of player transfer rules. Recent reports suggested that the Umuahia-based club had not adhered to NPFL directives relating to outstanding debts owed to former players.

John Obuh, the Chairman of the Abia Warriors, refuted these claims, asserting, “Abia Warriors is not in breach of any players transfer rule,” during an interview with Completesports.

Obuh elaborated on the club’s situation, stating, “We’ve responded to them, asking them to get in touch with the NPFL or NFF regarding this matter. It is essential to note that this alleged indebtedness dates back over a decade, and we have requested additional time to verify the claims and find a resolution with the affected players.”

He recounted a prior meeting with the Player Status and Arbitration Committee (PSAC), explaining that the club was unable to attend due to commitments in Lafia, Nasarawa State, for a crucial President Federation Cup match.

The Chairman expressed frustration at receiving threats of sanctions and points deductions without a proper chance to present their case, which he views as fundamentally unfair. He asserted that the NPFL is aware of their circumstances and has possession of their correspondence, emphasizing that the matter should have been directed to the NPFL or NFF for resolution.

Nasarawa United Celebrate Victor Collins

Nasarawa United took to their official X page recently to celebrate Victor Collins’ first call-up to the Super Eagles.

The centre-back was named in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, which was announced on Wednesday by caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen. He is the only home-based player included in the squad.

Note that Collins previously earned a spot in the Super Eagles Team B for a qualifying match against the Black Stars of Ghana.

In an official statement, Nasarawa United expressed their joy for the invite, stating, “We are ecstatic about this development as this is a result of his hard work, commitment and passion for the sport. We do not doubt that he will, like our other ambassadors, make valuable contributions to the National Team.”
