The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is set to introduce comprehensive policy guidelines to address security issues in the Niger Delta as part of his ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

During a stakeholders summit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ribadu, represented by his Special Adviser on Energy Security and Niger Delta Affairs, highlighted the administration’s plan to establish a dedicated security directorate for the Niger Delta.

Naija News understands that this directorate will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the President’s security initiatives in the region.

Ribadu emphasized that Tinubu’s approach to national security will pivot from primarily kinetic operations—those involving active military engagement—to a more integrated strategy that includes non-kinetic measures.

This shift aims to enhance security through human and socio-economic development, fostering a deeper democratic culture in the Niger Delta.

Our focus will be on security from a human and socio-economic development perspective,” Ribadu stated.

This will support the president’s goal of reinforcing democratic principles and ensuring sustainable development in the Niger Delta.”

The NSA assured stakeholders that a comprehensive and robust engagement strategy will be developed to support President Tinubu. This strategy will articulate a detailed presidential policy on Niger Delta security, aligning with the broader ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

We should expect that when that fully materializes, the president will most likely personally present policy guidance that will define his security management posture for the sustainable development of the Niger Delta, under the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda,” Ribadu added.
