The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano has apprehended a job racketeer who specialised in defrauding people of their hard-earned money with phantom employment in the Kano State ministries.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on behalf of the state commandant, said the 32-year-old suspect, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, was arrested after weeks of intense trail of his whereabouts.

“The suspect, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, 32 years, resident of Sagagi Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, was arrested after weeks of intense trail of his whereabouts following complaints lodged by individuals mostly women, who had been duped by the suspect of more than N1.2m,” Abdullahi said.

According to him, the suspect lured his victims with the pretence that he was a key government official and could secure an offer of employment for them in government MDAs, which eventually turned out to be untrue.

Abdullahi said the investigation had been concluded and the suspect would be charged in court by the corps legal unit.
