The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Victoria Island branch, yesterday, said it had compiled and submitted a report on how to end building collapse in Lagos State to the state government.

Chairman of the association, Aji Agbu Ezekiel, who disclosed this during a media briefing on the forthcoming 2024 Engineering Week in Lagos, said: “I am sure the government is reviewing the report and in the nearest future, they will call us for discussion.”
Aji said that the NSE also presented the Lagos State infrastructure scorecard that offered a detailed analysis of the state’s infrastructure projects, highlighting significant achievements, ongoing initiatives, and areas needing improvement.
The NSE chairman, who spoke on the Engineering Week event, with the theme, “Innovative leadership: Shaping the future of Engineering,” said the event is scheduled to be held from August 19-23, 2024.
He added that the guest speaker is the immediate past President, Ghana Institute of Engineering, Charles Adams, while the Chairman of the occasion is the NSE President, Margaret Aina Oguntala.
He further said that there would be a courtesy visit to engineering firms, holding training and skills acquisition programme, yearly general meeting/election/induction of new members.
“We have grown our branch, we are involved in community engagement. We have done a fire safety campaign and collaborated with the government. We are helping to solve power issues at the immigration office in Lagos. Some of our members have also registered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and are now special marshals,” he said.
