NUJ urges Delta monarch on progress at 4th coronation anniversary

The Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom in Delta State, His Majesty, Obukohwo Monday Whiskey, Udurhie I, has been called upon to “shun detractors” as he celebrates his 4th coronation anniversary.

The advice was contained in a letter of felicitation with the traditional ruler on the occasion, by the Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, copies of which were made public in Warri on Monday.

In the felicitation letter with the king, jointly signed by Comrade Victor Okpomor and Comrade, the Chairman and Secretary respectively, the union exhorted that the monarch should rather focus on the cause of driving his dreams to better the lots of his subjects in particular and the state and country at large.

The message partly reads, “Your Majesty, we acknowledge your immense contributions to the growth of our Chapel, the Idjerhe kingdom and Delta State.

“We pray the Almighty God that brought you unto the stool of your forebear will continue to uphold you with the strength, wisdom and knowledge to rule your kingdom.

“As a Chapel, we assure you of our continuous support on the throne.

“We advise you to shun detractors and focus on the cause of driving your dreams to better the lots of your subjects in particular and the state and country at large.

“As you mark this fourth anniversary on the throne, we pray God to continue to grant you wisdom and understanding to pilot the affairs of  Idjerhe kingdom.

“We wish you long life and prosperity in good health as you continue to reign in your stool”.

South-South PUNCH reports that the highlight of the week-long celebration was the conferment of the honorary chieftaincy title of Onotu of Idjerhe kingdom on a Senior Environment Specialist at the World Bank, Princess (Dr.) Iganya Joy Agene.
