Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday, visited Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress candidate, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, wishing him all the best in his political journey.

The former President acknowledged that campaigning for election was never an easy task.

Sharing his political experience with the governor during the visit to the presidential lodge of the state government house, Obasanjo remarked that the campaign period was a crucial time.

He said, “I understand the challenges of this period for you. I remember my campaign for the 1999 election when I covered the entire six states of the South West in one day. I think we started in Akure, Ondo State, then moved to Ekiti and reached Lagos around 8 pm. This is a crucial part of the process, and I wish you all the best.”

In response, Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to Obasanjo for the visit, acknowledging his (Obasanjo’s) contributions to the development of Nigeria, adding that his achievements as President remained indelible.
He noted that despite Obasanjo’s high profile and military background, he remained a humble and humane leader.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Jimoh Ibrahim, has vowed to work assiduously for the victory of the APC in this Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

Senator Ibrahim made the pledge on Sunday while addressing his supporters, known as the Aseyori Group, at Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state. He urged the group to intensify their efforts in canvassing votes for Governor Aiyedatiwa to ensure he remains in office beyond 2025.

Addressing the group, Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, said the APC was the most united political party, and this would be reflected in the outcome of this Saturday’s election.

“Please tell your friends, families, and neighbours about the good work we have started, and also endeavour to find your voter cards wherever they are kept. No doubt, the APC will win this election, but we must win resoundingly. It is important to get out and vote on November 16, this Saturday, so the good work can continue,” the governor urged.
