The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Edo Queens on securing a place in the CAF Champions League WAFU Group B Qualifier finals after defeating Inter FC of Ivory Coast 2-1 in their semi-final match.
The final match will determine who will represent the zone at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League Finals in November.
In a statement on Tuesday signed by his spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, the governor celebrated the team’s genius and stated that every girl child in Edo is proud of their performance.
Obaseki also commended the girls for dominating the game and giving a good account of themselves throughout the match.
The statement added, “As they continue with the laudable display at the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, we are reassured of their resolve to come out victorious in the finals and ultimately make a loud statement on the continental stage.”
