Obaseki Orders Edo Security Network To Resume Duties Amid Rising Insecurity

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has ordered members of the Edo State Security Network to resume their regular duties in the wake of deteriorating security situation in the State.

The Governor gave the directive after the State Security Council meeting on Monday during which the council undertook a review of the recent rise in homicides and other security incidents in the State.

The government noted that the current state of insecurity in the state would not be tolerated, and the Edo State Commissioner of Police has been mandated to ensure the restoration of order and sanity in the State.

‘Support Incoming Administration’ – Obaseki Pleads With Edo People

Meanwhile, Obaseki has called on the people of Edo State to extend the same cooperation and support given to his administration to the incoming government of Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Obaseki made this call during a thanksgiving service and the dedication ceremony of the newly refurbished Government House Chapel.

Addressing the congregation, Obaseki expressed gratitude to the people of Edo for their steadfast support throughout his tenure and emphasized the importance of continuity in the state’s progress.

Though I am leaving as governor of the state, I am not leaving Edo State,” he assured the audience, signalling his continued commitment to the state and its development.

Governor Obaseki’s tenure is set to conclude, making way for Okpebholo, who will soon assume office.

Obaseki also urged residents to work closely with the incoming administration during the service.

He said, “As governor and father of the State, I have been asked to give a charge and my charge is as following, dear heavenly father, we come before you for a grateful heart, thanking you for blessing and progress in Edo state.

“As we are transiting into a new administration, I urge each and every one of you in the name God to extend the level of cooperation and support to my administration to the incoming administration.

“let us continue to work together towards a brighter future for Edo State and Nigeria and we have no other country.”

He said the chapel being dedicated will serve as testimony and enduring spirit to Edo people and the good things that will be accomplished in the state.

While acknowledging and thanking God for His support and provision throughout his eight years tenure, he also thanked the people for prayers and commitment to the progress of Edo.

To the people of Edo state, I extend my gratitude for your partnership and cooperation throughout our tenure, your trust, encouragement and passion have fuel our passion to deliver impactful project projects and processes that have transformed our state,” he said
