Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun

The Ogun State Government on Thursday denied claims that it spent N1trn to reconstruct the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.

The government disclosed this in a statement while reacting to allegations of financial recklessness as contained in a document titled “#Where is our money?” which is circulating on social media.

The statement, signed by the Special Adviser on Media to state Governor Kayode Akinmade, explained that the write-up was fabricated by political adversaries of the governor.

The government  denied all allegations in the write-up describing them as baseless, unfounded, and a hatchet job

The statement partly read, “We wish to state categorically that the allegations are entirely unfounded, mischievous, and merely contrived to tarnish the good image of the Governor Dapo Abiodun Administration and officials of the Ogun State Government.

“To say the least, the allegations are not only a laughable hatchet job but also a figment of the imagination of the purveyors.

“It is instructive to note that the disgruntled elements who are behind this mendacious propaganda had been architects of political disorder in Ogun State in times past.

“Some of them actively participated in ensuring that previous administrations were distracted and hindered from finishing the course of governance well. They are aggrieved and startled that even after a year into his second term, Governor Dapo Abiodun is still waxing stronger and remaining focused on his job.

“In their desperation and plot of shenanigans, they probably think putting a toga of corruption around the Governor’s neck would diminish his rising profile. They have failed woefully! “
