Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has awarded contracts for the reconstruction of key roads, including the Ilara to Ilishan road in Remo North and Awolowo Road in Ikenne Local Government Area, as part of ongoing infrastructure development across the state.

Abiodun made this announcement on Saturday during the Afotamodi Day Grand Finale held at AUD Primary School in Isara-Remo, themed “A Legacy of Culture and Tradition.”

Addressing the audience, he emphasised his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure in the state.

Highlighting recent setbacks, the governor disclosed that the initial contractor assigned to the Awolowo Road project was unable to complete the job due to health issues.

He explained that the contract had been re-awarded to ensure timely completion.

“I am saddened by the turn of events concerning the Awolowo Way project. The original contractor is currently indisposed and unable to continue. We have therefore re-awarded the contract to another firm, and the road will soon be completed,” Abiodun assured.

He further announced the award of additional contracts, including Phase 3 of the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Saapade Road, which is expected to boost connectivity and economic activities in the region.

“The road from Ilara to Ilishan, impacted by the ongoing airport project, is also under reconstruction. The contractor has already commenced work, and we are optimistic that, with God’s grace, it will be completed soon,” he added.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Isara for their support, the governor pledged continued partnership to drive development in the community.

He also donated N20 million towards various developmental initiatives in Isara-Remo and promised to celebrate the festival with the town in the coming year.

Earlier, the Odemo of Isara-Remo, Oba Adebose Mayungbe, lauded the town’s indigenes for their commitment to Isara’s growth. He extended his appreciation to Abiodun for his dedication to the welfare of the people and the state.
