Ogun police probe killing of 28-year-old man accused of stealing

The Ogun State Police Command on Friday said it has launched an investigation into the killing of 28-year-old Adeniji Ibrahim in front of his father’s house at Abule Oke axis of Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.

The command also said that it has commenced a manhunt for those who were behind the suspected extrajudicial killing

The 28-year-old was said to have been killed in the early hours of July 3, 2024, over allegation of theft.

The case was said to have been reported at Imasayi Police Division by the father of the deceased, Kamorudeen Adeniji.

Adeniji was said to have reported  that some group of people arrested his son with the allegations of stealing and later killed him in front of his (Adeniji’s) house.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the development.

Odutola said, “Detectives, following the report, visited the scene, documented evidence through photographs, and thereafter deposited the corpse of the deceased at the mortuary of Ilaro General Hospital.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department as soon as the suspects are arrested, and the command has already launched manhunt for the perpetrators of the criminal act.”
