Shooting Stars coach Gbenga Ogunbote is thrilled to continue working with the Oluyole Warriors after extending his contract with the club by two years, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Ogunbote announced the two-year extension on Tuesday before their Value Jet Cup opener against Sudanese champions El Merikh, which they lost 1-0.

After leading the team to a fourth-place finish in the 2023/24 season, their best outing in a decade, Ogunbote was tipped to exit the club with vacant positions existing at other rivals clubs.

He has however laid the rumours to rest by announcing his extended stay in Ibadan.

“I am thrilled to announce that I have signed a two-year contract extension as the head coach of SHOOTING STARS,” Ogunbote wrote on X.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this talented group of athletes and I am excited about the future we will build together.”

‘The Oracle’ as he’s fondly called rejoined 3SC before the start of the abridged 2022/23 season and has now managed them for two seasons.

Ahead of next season, Ogunbote has already added more players to his squad signing Abayomi Adebayo on a free transfer from Remo Stars.

Anthony Okachi has also rejoined him after spending the last season in Enyimba while his former player at Sunshine Stars, Kabiru Tijani has also joined the club.
