The spokesperson for the Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, has announced the death of his mother, Deaconess Esther Ogbonnia. She passed away at the age of 88.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Dr. Ogbonnia revealed that Deaconess Esther Ogbonnia died on November 2, 2024, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu State.
“My mother was highly endowed and exceptional in faith,” Ogbonnia said, expressing admiration for her life and character. He noted that the family would share details of the funeral arrangements at a later date.

The statement read, “Deaconess Esther Oligwe Ogbonnia (Nee Uzoagbala) has joined the Saints Triumphant at 88. Her transition occurred at the UNTH, Enugu on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. She was highly endowed and exceptional in the faith.
“She is blessed with: The Rt. Hon. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, PhD; SKC Ogbonnia, PhD; Ozo Clifford Ogbonnia; Ozo Obi-Jackson Ogbonnia; Chief Mrs Francisca Okafor; Miss Eyiuche Ogbonnia; and Ozo Olisa Uzoagbala Ogbonnia; grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.”
