Former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, has denied recent claims that he discredited the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement by his former special adviser on Media, Samuel Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said the claims were false and fabricated by his political detractors.

The statement read, “Almost eight years after leaving as governor of Imo State and years after leaving as Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, those with a phobia of Rochas Okorocha have refused to let up. They have gone on social media and planted a story, crediting him with the statement: ‘APC is no longer a political party but a party desperate to hijack power at all costs.”

According to him, Okorocha could not have made such comments, noting that the former governor remains committed and worked hard for the party.

He said, “Okorocha was a key player in the merger that gave birth to the APC, and he took a significant political risk in supporting the party. He was also elected as the pioneer chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and worked tirelessly to make the forum successful.”

The statement maintained that Okorocha remains committed to the APC’s well-being and success, and that the claims were merely a product of envy and blackmail from his detractors.
