- The English national team secured a victory in the UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final fixture against the Netherlands
- Goals from Harry Kane and substitute, Ollie Watkins, were enough to see the Three Lions through to the final
- The Aston Villa forward has disclosed how he predicted Cole Palmer would provide him with an assist for the winning goal
The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament delivered yet another compelling narrative as the English national team, against all odds, clinched victory against the Netherlands in the dying moments of the game.
Gareth Southgate's side, which has been heavily criticised in the lead-up to the final, did little to cover themselves in glory as they fell to an early goal from forward Xavi Simons.
The Three Lions managed to restore parity when captain, Harry Kane, converted a penalty following a foul by Denzel Dumfries.
However, the biggest story of the game came when substitute forward, Ollie Watkins, secured victory for the 2020 Euro finalists in the 91st minute.

The Aston Villa forward later disclosed a surprising prediction he had made with teammate Cole Palmer prior to their substitution.
Watkins discloses prediction with Palmer
Speaking after his historic moment for England, Watkins shared what he and Palmer discussed on the bench just minutes before the winning goal.
The Aston Villa striker explained that he had predicted Palmer would provide him with an assist for a goal before they entered the game.
Speaking to ITV Sport, as reported by Football London, the 28-year-old said:
"Unbelievable. I’ve been waiting for that moment for weeks. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to where I am now. I’m grateful I got the opportunity, and I grabbed it with both hands. I’m delighted.""I swear on my life, on my kids’ lives, I said to Cole Palmer, ‘We’re coming on, and you’re going to set me up.’ That’s why I was so happy with Coley [Palmer]. I knew as soon as he got the ball, he was going to play me."Watkins' goal propelled Southgate's team to their first-ever major final outside their home soil. The Euro 2020 finalists will face Spain in Berlin, a side they last defeated in 2018, according to data from Fotmob.
Carragher blasts England's penalty call
In another report by Legit.ng, Jamie Carragher believes England's penalty was not deserved in their Euro 2024 semi-final victory against the Netherlands.
The Three Lions were awarded a controversial penalty, which allowed them to equalise in the match.
Kane would convert from the spot to draw England level before Watkins sealed the winner with a few minutes left on the clock to take Gareth Southgate's team to a second consecutive European Championship final.
