The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, Hon Agboola Ajayi, has urged his supporters to eschew violence. He says the forthcoming governorship election will allow the voters to choose between hunger and prosperity.
He asked the voters to eschew violence before, during, and after the poll, urged them to choose between the hardship the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has subjected to and the prosperity associated with the PDP.
Addressing residents of Idanre in Idanre local government after the inauguration of a 400-member campaign committee, the PDP candidate noted that the ruling APC had subjected citizens to hardship and was weaponizing poverty for selfish purposes.
Flanked by the party leaders, including his deputy, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, Ajayi said the hardship in the country had caused untold hardship, and people should protest with their votes in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Appreciating the residents and party leaders for the rousing welcome, the PDP candidate said, “We are not here to campaign yet. We are here to greet the people over the demise of our late king. No reasonable person should contemplate voting for APC with the level of hardship unleashed on Nigerians. You have shown that you love us and our party. Kindly ensure you vote and stay with your vote during the poll.”
Converging at the PDP Local Government secretariat in the town, the residents and party faithful, who trooped out en masse to welcome the PDP candidate, affirmed that the PDP’s chances of winning the forthcoming governorship election are improving daily with the choice of Hon. Festus Akingbaso as the deputy governorship candidate.
Speaking on behalf of the people, Adekunle Akinlalu, chairman of the Idanre PDP local government, disclosed that the November 16th governorship election is about the people of Idanre.
He says, “The election is about Idanre’s agenda, and no other political parties here will win any vote. We have moved around the town; you can see that dance is for PDP.”
While noting that no Idanre indigenes have ever become deputy governors in the state since its creation, the PDP LG chairman, the residents, and the indigenes of the ancient town will show gratitude to the PDP during the poll.
He said, “We will beat other parties with a wide margin they will not be able to meet. We appreciate you for picking our son as your deputy governorship candidate. We will show appreciation through our vote come the November 16th governorship election. We will not disappoint you. We are loyal people in danger.”
