Ondo guber: Aiyedatiwa panicky ahead of election — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ondo State chapter, has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of exploring various means to win the forthcoming November 16 governorship election at all costs.

PDP emphasised that the governor had been in a panic mood, hence the deployment of tactics ahead of the poll.

While describing the actions of the governor as desperate, the opposition party disclosed that part of the tactics was the N31 billion contract for the construction of a judicial complex in Akure, the state capital, allegedly awarded to the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to the PDP in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary in Ondo State, Kennedy Peretei, other ‘tactics’ include the N73,000 minimum wage promised by Aiyedatiwa, and the appointment of over 400 aides, who he said had not been paid salaries since their appointment two months ago.

“Having failed to convince the people why they should trust him with their mandate, some panicky measures were taken. And because they were not all well thought out, they all fell flat on their backs.

“The 416 political appointees, carefully selected from the 203 Electoral Wards, were shocked to discover that, for the month of October 2024, they received no salary alert. What is the guarantee that, after losing the election in November, they will be paid?

“After spending ten months in the saddle, it is his programs and projects that should have done the campaigns for Governor Aiyedatiwa. Instead, he is recruiting propagandists to lie to Ondo State people, as if we are blind and deaf,” the PDP added.
