Ondo: NSCDC nabs three over illegal mining, cable theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State has arrested three individuals for alleged illegal mining and armoured cable theft.

The state NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Daniel Aidamenbor, made this known in a statement released in Akure on Wednesday.

Aidamenbor revealed that two suspects, “Modashiru Nasiru, 18, and Hassan Yaya, 19, were arrested on August 13 for engaging in unlicensed mining activities in the Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state.”

He added that the third suspect, Aloa Segun, was apprehended for the alleged theft of armoured cables.

Aidamenbor said that during the investigation, armoured cables, recline cables and a generator, all valued at N3.3m were recovered from the suspect.

He added that the suspects would be prosecuted as soon as investigations were concluded.
