Ondo poll: I won’t make empty promises, says Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress candidate for the upcoming governorship election on November 16, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to fulfil all promises made during his campaign.

The APC candidate said he would not make any empty promises.

Aiyedatiwa, whose campaign train moved to Ose Local Government of the state on Saturday, stated this while speaking in the Ido Ani community.

Addressing an audience at the palace of the Alani of Ido Ani, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security in the area and completing all outstanding road projects.

Communities within the local government, close to Edo State, have faced persistent security challenges, notably kidnappings by bandits. In response, the governor has pledged to tackle these issues by increasing the deployment of security operatives to the region.

The governor said: “Unlike other candidates who make promises they won’t fulfil, I don’t believe in empty words. I will take action and deliver good governance.

“We know what the people of this region want even before they ask for it, which is why my Special Adviser on Infrastructure has been tasked with taking note of your needs and reporting back for immediate action.

“We understand how important roads, healthcare, and education are to your people. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that no community is left behind. We are ready to serve you better and bring meaningful development to every corner of Ose Local Government.”

In their remarks, the Alani of Ido Ani, Oba Olufemi Olutoye, and the Onidogun of Idogun, Oba Moses Bakare, called on the government to address the challenges posed by the poor road network in the region.

They stressed that inadequate infrastructure has hindered economic activities and access to essential services in their communities.

The monarchs further highlighted the need for improved healthcare facilities, school renovations, and greater political inclusion, urging the governor to ensure that the people of Ose Local Government receive more political appointments.

Similarly, another traditional ruler, the Onimoru of Imoru Land in the Ose LGA, Oba Rotimi Obamuagun, appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to intensify efforts in addressing the security challenges affecting the region, emphasising the growing need for improved safety measures, particularly in rural communities, where residents have faced persistent security concerns.

“Farming is a major part of our livelihood, but insecurity threatens both farmers and traders who rely on these activities to survive. We need the government to strengthen security in our communities to protect our people and ensure their peace of mind,” Oba Obamuagun pleaded.
