Residents of Ondo State are set to head to the polls today, Saturday, to elect their governor for the next four years.

Naija News reports that this election serves as a critical test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has promised to apply lessons learned from the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State.

Scheduled for today, November 16, the Ondo governorship election marks the first off-cycle poll in Nigeria since the September 21 election in Edo State. A

ccording to INEC, polling units will open at 8:30 a.m., allowing voters to cast their ballots.

INEC officials are expected to arrive at polling units earlier to prepare for the exercise.

Only individuals with a valid Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) will be eligible to participate.

To cast your vote in the Ondo governorship election, follow these steps:

1. Present Your PVC: Upon arrival at the polling booth, present your PVC to INEC officials. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used to verify your identity.

2. Accreditation: INEC officials will check your name in the voter register and mark it to confirm your accreditation

3. Receive Ballot Paper: Once accredited, you will be issued a ballot paper. Proceed to the designated voting area.

4. Cast Your Vote: Thumbprint your choice on the ballot paper and place it in the ballot box.

5. Confirmation Mark: INEC officials may apply ink to your thumb as proof of voting.

After voting, you may choose to leave or stay at a reasonable distance to observe the sorting and counting process.
