Onyekwere living Olympic dreams

Nigerian women’s discus thrower Chioma Onyekwere is having a swell time at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, sharing her excitement on a daily basis on her social media handles since the commencement of the multi-sports event, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The mechanical engineer is making her second appearance at the Games but competing for the first time, having been disqualified from doing so at Tokyo 2020 for failing to meet the required number of pre-tournament dope tests.

This dented her excitement in Tokyo, another beautiful city, but the joy of competing in Paris has sent her emotions overboard.

In a video on Friday, she took the time to share what a typical day in her life looks like, from her morning coffee to hitting the practice field after work.

In another video on Thursday, Cici, who made her competitive Olympic debut on Friday in the qualifying rounds, shared her excitement about the top-class accommodation provided Team Nigeria in Paris, highlighting the items in each flat.

”Team Nigeria has their own building with 5 floors of suites for the athletes and coaches. The suite shown comes with 3 bedrooms; each bedroom is for two occupants. The suites have 2 full bathrooms, a common area, and a balcony. Bedroom: cardboard bed, tableside desk with lockable drawer, lamp, extension cable, drying rack. Common area: pink bean bag, quarter couch, 3 cardboard stools.”

The finals for women’s discus are on Monday, August 5 at 2:30 p.m.
