Osimhen gets PSG transfer boost

Victor Osimhen’s move to Paris Saint-Germain has received a major boost, with reports suggesting the Ligue 1 side resume pursuit of the Napoli striker after Goncalo Ramos suffered an ankle that requires surgery, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, with PSG and Chelsea emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.

According to Le Parisien and RMC Sport, Ramos has ruptured ankle ligaments and could be sidelined for up to three months, potentially forcing PSG to accelerate their pursuit of Osimhen.

The Ligue 1 giants had initially planned to wait until the end of the transfer window to negotiate a lower fee for Osimhen, but Ramos’ injury has altered their strategy.

Osimhen, who has reportedly been holding out for a move to PSG, could now see his wish granted sooner than expected. The French club may be compelled to meet Napoli’s asking price of €100m plus add-ons to secure the Nigerian’s services.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in the former Lille player is still ongoing, but the London club are hesitant to engage in a potential swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea see Osimhen and Lukaku as “separate deals” and are unwilling to discuss a swap arrangement.

However, the Blues’ stance could change in the wake of PSG’s renewed urgency, as they might now be more open to the idea of acquiring Osimhen in a part-exchange deal for Lukaku, who is not in the club’s plans for the upcoming season.

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged his old club to sign an experienced centre-forward, highlighting the team’s need for a “proper striker” despite the return of Christopher Nkunku from injury.

As the transfer saga unfolds, Napoli find themselves in a favourable position. The potential sale of Osimhen would provide the Italian club funds to pursue Lukaku and other transfer targets.

With PSG now under pressure to bolster their attack and Chelsea reconsidering their position, the coming days could prove crucial in determining Osimhen’s future.
