The Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg, where Victor Osimhen played between 2017 and 2019, has applauded the appointment of their former manager, Bruno Labbadia, as Super Eagles’ new head coach.

The German Bundesliga side took to their X page on Wednesday to express their support for Bruno Labbadia, stating that he is a great addition to the Nigeria National Team.

“Good luck, Bruno! You get a good coach, Eagles,” the club wrote on their official X page.

Labbadia, a 58-year-old German tactician, is set to take on the role previously held by coach Finidi George, who stepped down in June. His immediate challenge will be to ensure positive results in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September.

Labbadia’s appointment comes after a period of speculation, with names like Herve Renard and Janne Andersson being linked to the coaching position.

Having previously managed VfL Wolfsburg, Labbadia’s coaching stint saw the team achieve a 16th-place finish.

His experience and track record add an interesting dimension to his new role as the head coach of the Super Eagles, and he now faces the challenging task of preparing the team for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

From September 7 when the Super Eagles will take on Benin Republic in Uyo, all eyes will be on Labbadia as he takes on the crucial responsibility of qualifying the team for the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
