Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored his 10th Turkish Super Lig goal from the penalty spot as Galatasaray maintained their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory over Gotzepe at the RAMS Park, Istanbul on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigeria international converted from 12 yards after Kaan Ayhan was fouled by Djalma Silva to give the league leaders an early advantage.

Antony Dennis teed up Romulo Cruz to level for the visitors in the 27th minute, but Yunus Akgun restored Galatasaray’s lead on the hour mark. Lucas Torreira had a goal ruled out by VAR late in the game.

The victory extends Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the table to 11 points over second-placed Fenerbahçe after 17 matches.

Osimhen, who joined the Turkish champions on loan from Napoli in September, is now joint-second in the scoring charts with 10 goals, alongside Simon Banza and Mame Baba Thiam, trailing only Krzysztof Piatek’s 12 strikes.

The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form since moving to Turkey, netting 13 goals and providing five assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have attracted interest from several European clubs, particularly in the Premier League, with the January transfer window now open.

However, the striker recently expressed his commitment to remain with Galatasaray until the end of the season.

“I will not leave in January, I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterwards, but if they come to me, we will talk,” Osimhen said after his brace against Tottenham in the UEL.

The unbeaten league leaders now turn their attention to Wednesday’s Turkish Cup clash against Başakşehir as they look to maintain their impressive form under manager Pierre Sage.
