Osun Amotekun arrests three suspects for alleged theft of vehicle parts

Three men, Sodiq Oyedokun, Ojoko Ayomiposi and Busari Ayomide have been arrested by personnel of the Osun Amotekun Corps for alleged theft of vehicle parts.

According to a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday in Osogbo by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, CSP, Isaac Omoyele (rtd), the trio aged between 21 and 24 years were nabbed in Ode-Omu town, Ayedaade local government area.

The statement which was issued by the outfit’s spokesperson said, “the trio were arrested on Wednesday when attempting to sell the parts as scrap to one Mallam dealing with scavenging business in Ode-Omu.

“While the Mallam refused to buy the stolen items, he alerted Amotekun Operatives in the town who sprang into action immediately and apprehended the suspects on the spot.

“The suspects confessed to stealing the parts at a mechanic workshop owned by one Mr. Victor in Akure, Ondo State and came to Ode-Omu in Osun State to sell the stolen parts before luck ran against them.”

Omoyele also revealed the suspects have been transferred to the Amotekun Ondo State Command for further investigation and prosecution.

DAILY POST recalled that on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command, Mohammed Umar Abba issued a warning to members of the Scavengers Association in the state to desist from buying stolen items.

CP Umar Abba who revealed that possession of stolen items was worse than theft also warned that anyone found culpable would not go unpunished.

The police boss held the meeting with members of the association following an increase in the vandalisation of transformers, power cables and lines.
