Osun: IBOT lauds Adeleke for clarifications on, restoration of Oluwo paramountcy

• Urges Iwo Traditional council monarchs to seek genuine reconciliation, work harmoniously 

The prime and apex decision-making body in Iwo, Osun State, the Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT), has lauded the forthrightness of Osun State Governor, Ademola  Adeleke for laying to rest all controversies and insinuations surrounding the supremacy and paramountcy of the Oluwo title in Iwoland. 

The body expressed happiness that Adeleke was able to restore  the sanctity of  the Oluwo as the only prescribed authority in Iwoland, comprising Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa local councils of the state. It said the fraudulent erosion of the paramount ruler’s authority by some individuals was a great concern to them all.

The letter signed by the IBOT President , Prof. Lai Olurode and its Secretary, Aare Jiire Ayinla, was  entitled: ‘’Letter of Appreciation for Restoring the Authority of Oluwo Of Iwo, the Paramount Ruler of Iwoland’’.

It added that the pronouncement displayed Adeleke’s  respect for culture and traditions. 

The letter reads: ‘’We are writing to express our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to our esteemed office for taking decisive action to restore the sanctity and authority of our revered Paramount Ruler, the Oluwo of Iwo. 

‘’The Board is happy that the governor has followed with keen interest the developments as they pattern to the sanctity of Oluwo as the only prescribed authority in Iwoland, comprising Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa local councils of the state. 
 
‘’Your intervention in this matter has brought immense relief and joy to our community.

‘’The fraudulent erosion of our paramount ruler’s authority by some individuals was a great concern to us all. Your swift action to address this Injustice has demonstrated your commitment to upholding the truth, justice and the dignity of our traditional institutions. 

‘’Sir, your leadership and wisdom in handling this delicate matter are truly commendable. Your efforts have not only restored the authority of our paramount ruler but also reinforced the confidence of our people in the government’s ability to protect and promote our cultural heritage.

‘’Please, accept our sincerest appreciation for your unwavering support and dedication to the well-being of our community’’.

While saying that there was neither a victor nor a vanquished but all were winners, IBOT leaders urged all Obas and Chiefs under the Iwo Traditional Council to seek genuine reconciliation and work together harmoniously for the betterment of their people. 

‘’The people of Iwoland and particularly their traditional rulers should manage their diversity in ways that will benefit all without discrimination’’, they added.
