The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has called on the members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State to work harder and return the party to government in the next governorship election.
Oyetola spoke in Ikirun, Osun State, on Sunday, where he received the 2015 House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Mr Kayode Oduoye, and his supporters to the APC.
The minister, who was represented by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, urged the APC members to be united and continue to allow peace to reign in its fold.
“I am very happy to formally receive Kayode Oduoye and his followers. No doubt, Oduoye is a politician to reckon with not only in Ikirun but in the entire state. His political trajectory has been very impactful and rewarding. As a young politician of repute, our party has once again increased with great people in the Ifelodun Federal Constituency.
“As I am formally welcoming Oduoye and his people, I want to appeal to you all to continue to work in unity for the good and betterment of our party and the people at large.
“I want to appeal to you all to go back to your various wards and Local Government Areas and start mobilising the people, as we are prepared, resilient and and resolute to record victories in the future elections,” Oyetola said.
While speaking in a similar vein, the former PDP National Deputy Chairman, Shuaib Oyedokun, commended Oduoye for taking a courageous step to leave the PDP.
Earlier in his remarks, the Osun APC Chairman, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, appealed to Oduoye and his supporters to work with other members towards achieving success, saying, “We are grateful that Oduoye and his people are coming at the right time. Our party is the political party to beat anytime. We are confident in God and humanity that our party will continue to wax stronger than ever before as affirmed by the quality people defecting into our party.”
